Abstract
The purpose of this experiment was to determine which citric fruit juice was the most acidic by observing the dental erosion of teeth submerged in the juice. To record and observe the data, a triple beam scale was used to weigh the teeth before and after each trial. Each trial was one week, where the teeth would stay in a sealed container for that period of time. Out of the five substances, the most acidic, lemon juice, decreased the weight of the tooth the most. The weight of the tooth decreased by 50% in the lemon juice. In the orange juice, the acid decreased the weight by only 6.25%, which had the least amount of change. This shows that the more acidic the juice is, the more dental erosion will occur. With this research, people can make their teeth last longer by decreasing the consumption of a lot of acidic foods.
